So this is my entry for the Steampunkism contest
I'm painting another one coz I really enjoyed doing this, which surprised me a bit actually, might even do a third entry if I have time.
I have to combine Steampunk and Impressionism. This may not be like other Steampunk things.. when I think Steampunk I think more of top hats and goggles and that sort of technology, what I've done is more biomechanical, but I still think it IS steampunk. I'm not an expert on Impressionism AT ALL, and obviously this isn't 100% done in the impressionist style, but I think when you're combining things there has to be some compromise. To me Steampunk is fine lines and sharp edges, smooth and shiny, so impressionism doesn't fit on the face of it. I think I combined them alright.
My character evolved as I did the painting, I pretty much made it up as I went along. I see her as a biomechanoid, she is human, but obviously she is part machine - the pole coming out of her neck and turning the cogs. I'm thinking of time-travel as well.
The orangey background has cogs in it, I did those more abstract, so yeah, probably can't tell what they are haha they're covered anyway
